Kidding aside, hamburger is also delicious but it depends on what type of patty and from where you bought your hamburger. Almost every street food is fried to lessen the spoilage time and it is easy to cook that way rather than steaming or maybe dish with soups. Siomai is rarely seen fried, this type of delicacy was design for steaming by the Chinese which came from the word "Shumai" - a piece of pork, beef or even shrimp meat wrapped in a wanton sheet. So why choose to eat a steamed food? obviously, it is more healthy than reused frying oil with black specks of dark meat which converts to carcinogen which cancerous when consumed in a period of time. Beware of this hamburgers even though it is very hard to stay away from this matter when your stomach is growling already. Better to keep your consumption moderately to keep your heart healthy and your blood pressure to normal levels.
At the steamer, our humble siomai is getting softer and the tasty aroma is flying around to look for a starving individuals. I think it is me, lol. Filipinos can make any food into "ulam" adding rice is the key to have a heavy meal on the go and our steamed meat is a perfect menu for a budgeted lunch or dinner. Combined with the Philippine lemon, calamansi is one of the favorite dip of Filipinos but it can also be a tamarind, young mango, kamias or any local fruit that is sour sprinkled with soy sauce. Try eating out with your friends together with siomai I am sure you will have more eating to do and smile about.
